Fish-hook

A copper alloy barbed fish hook of medieval date. The hook is round in cross-section with a flattened terminal, from half way up shaft. 96 fish hooks and two probable fish spears survive from Meols. A further 30 fish hooks from the collections were lost during the Second World War. Found on the shore at Meols. Meols catalogue number 3594 (Griffiths, D; Philpott, R; Egan, G, 2007).
