Fishing Nets, St. Ives

Witherop lived in St Ives, Cornwall, from 1930 to 1939. There he met Ben Nicholson who painted Prince and Princess. Like Joseph Southall, Witherop has painted boats in tempera but his style is very different. He has simplified the boats and the buildings and used more muted colours.
