This flower pot is made in blue jasper with white jasper decoration. The decoration is formed in moulds and then applied in a process known as sprigging. The sprigging depicts four putti, one on each side of the pot and sprigging of palm trees form a frame around them.
The shape of the flower pot is copied from the shape of ancient Roman altars.
