This badge and leaflet was produced By After Adoption, a voluntary adoption agency based in Manchester. Operating throughout England and Wales, the organisation works extensively within the LGBT community to champion equality for those going through the adoption process. Recently, until a change in the law in 2002, same-sex couples in England and Wales who adopted a child would not legally be recognised as the child’s parents. This was changed in 2008 in Scotland, but in Northern Ireland same-sex couples still do not have equal adoption rights to mixed-sex couples.
