Information
Liverpool is Burning: The Grand Vogue Ball was held on 8 November 2008 as part of the Homotopia festival in the Ballroom of the Adelphi Hotel. The night was a collaboration between Homotopia - the annual LGBT arts festival based in Liverpool, Duckie - a post-queer performance and events collective, and The House of Suarez, a theatre company that focuses on choreography, dance, and dance- interpretation.
The night incorporated runway fashion, choreography and theatrical performances to recreate and reinvent the Black gay scene of 1980s New York. The event was hosted by Amy Lamé and Rikki Beadle-Blair, as well as a celebrity panel of judges including Margi Clarke and the artistic director of Homotopia, Gary Everett, who appeared as Tsar Nicholas II with the rest of the House of Romanov.
