Information

Miracle was written by Gerry Potter, a Liverpool born gay author, performer, poet, director and actor. Potter was born in the Scotland Road area of Liverpool in 1962 and cultivated a love of theatre and performance in the Everyman Youth Theatre in the 1980s before moving to Manchester and continuing to write and perform. Miracle tells the story of Will Hung, a porn star and ex-rent boy who finds that he can cure all terminal diseases by having sex with those who have them. The play is set in 1995, before effective treatments for HIV/AIDS were developed and so consequently Will Hung is the only hope for men with the virus. The production premiered at The Lowry, Salford before coming to the Unity Theatre, Liverpool on 7 and 8 November 2008 as part of the Homotopia Festival in Liverpool’s Capital of Culture year. After the two night run at the Unity Theatre, the production transferred to the Drill Hall, London.
