Three parts of red shoe. Red upper broken away from the sole. Sole broken into two pieces. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Old infestation, surface loss, very dry and brittle, surface dirt, incomplete. Ex Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession number 31217 (check number 17708 "Shoe, red leather, Coptic"); purchased for Sir Henry Wellcome at Stevens' auction house, London, 6 August 1924 lot 72 "Roman wooden box containing original thread, and 12 Roman and Coptic shoes, all found in Egypt, rare".
