Part of front of shoe decorated with applique flowers. Sole and upper part of show broken apart. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Incomplete, very dry and brittle, worn, old infestation, surface loss, surface dirt. Ex Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession number 31217 (check number 17712 "Shoe, embroidered, foreportion"); purchased for Sir Henry Wellcome at Stevens' auction house, London, 6 August 1924 lot 72 "Roman wooden box containing original thread, and 12 Roman and Coptic shoes, all found in Egypt, rare".
