Pair of leather sandals with a Greek inscription painted on them in gold, which was translated by Professor Adolf Michaelis (1835-1910) of the University of Strasbourg, "You will become sound (healthy, strong) since Christ has died." Entry in the museum's Annual Report records that the slippers were "taken from a fermale mummy found near to Bennah, during the excavations for the railway from Alexandria to Cairo". CONDITION NOTE (1998): Right treated with carbo wax, left with araldite in 1992; left support: paint is flaking off.
