Boot with plaited lace. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Loose fragments, holed, very dry and brittle, soil on sole, out of shape, seams coming undone. Ex Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession number 31217 (check number 17705 "Boot, black leather, Coptic, Egypt"); purchased for Sir Henry Wellcome at Stevens' auction house, London, 6 August 1924 lot 72 "Roman wooden box containing original thread, and 12 Roman and Coptic shoes, all found in Egypt, rare".
