Frances Wilkins Research Collection re. Smuggling

D/WIL

Information

This research collection was built up by Frances Wilkins, who has carried out extensive research into customs and excise history, particularly the history of smuggling at ports around the UK. It was acquired through the National Museum of Customs and Excise [now Border Force Museum] at the Merseyside Maritime Museum, who have retained the books in their library collection (to make an appointment to view these, please see the contact details on the Border Force website). The collection consists of 36 boxes (including 5 outsize) containing primary and secondary research, notes, slides and correspondence. The collection is stored offsite and will be recalled upon request. Please contact The Archives Centre with details of the items you wish to consult and to arrange a visit to the Searchroom. Please note: much of the archive material consists of photocopies of documents. Under copyright law we are not permitted to further photocopy these items.
