Thomas Faed (1826 - 1900) was said to have done for Scottish art what Robert Burns did for Scottish song. He was from a family of artists, most notably including his brothers John (1819) and James (1821 - 1911). Their sister Susan (1827 - 1909) painted and also modelled for the brothers.
