Funerary Cone of Amenhotep

Pottery funerary cone, stamped on the round end twice with the name and title of the deceased. The hieroglyphic inscription reads: "The fourth priest of Amun, Amenhotep, true of voice. His wife, lady of the house, Amenhotep". CONDITION NOTE 1998: Chipped, worn, surface dirt, discolouration, large area of reconstruction. Wellcome Historical Medical Museum no. 71779: CONE SEAL Pottery, red. 7 3/8" x 3 1/8" Egyptian. Purchased with two other funerary cones as part of Lot 27 at at Hurcombs, 29-30 January 1929.
