Pottery funerary cone, stamped on the round end with the name and title of the deceased. The hieroglyphic inscription reads: “Revered one before Osiris, chief of the medjay, Ruru justified" [ jmAxy xr Asjr wr n mDAw rwrw mAa-xrw]. Broken, with only the stamped round end preserved.
CONDITION NOTE 1998: Incomplete, label adhered, worn, surface dirt.
Part of a small group of objects from the William Hood collection, found at Nettleham Hall in a box after the sale of his collection at Sotheby's 11 November 1924. Purchased by Norwich Castle Museum (127.940) and then entered Liverpool's collection in 1956.
