Fragment of a male figure. Only the head and upper body survives. Both arms are missing. Gesso surface has darkened making painted details difficult to see. Hair is painted black and the face is rather long.
CONDITION NOTE 1998: Incomplete, surface loss, splitting, dry, surface dirt.
Aylward Blackman was Brunner Professor of Egyptology at the University of Liverpool between 1948 and 1956. Between 1912 and 1920 he spent five fieldwork seasons at Meir, recording the rock-cut tombs in this part of Middle Egypt, from where this object was collected.
