Fragment of a male figure. Only the head survives. Well carved with black painted hair, red skin with very large eyes painted in black and white with black eyebrows.. Nose is broken off and there is surface loss in several places.
CONDITION NOTE 1998: Incomplete, surface loss, pigment loss and flaking at top of head, crazed surface, very dry.
Aylward Blackman was Brunner Professor of Egyptology at the University of Liverpool between 1948 and 1956. Between 1912 and 1920 he spent five fieldwork seasons at Meir, recording the rock-cut tombs in this part of Middle Egypt, from where this object was collected.
