Funerary Scarab

The winged scarab was a symbol of new life and amulets of it would have been attached to the mummy bandages or to a bead net placed over the mummy’s chest. The amulet protected the mummy and helped the person to be reborn in the Afterlife. Scarab forms a set with two wings (M14148a/b). Mayer Collection Inventory 1928: not included.
