Funerary Scarab Wing



This winged scarab consists of three pieces: an actual scarab beetle and two separately made wings (44.19.199a-c). The right wing is of a greenish blue glazed faience, moulded with fabric impression on the obverse decorated in yellow and red paint. The underside is plain with lower part of the wing missing. There are two holes pieced round the edge for stitching to fabric or beads. Glasgow Art Galleries & Museums loan sticker on the underside. Exhibited in Glasgow 1912-15 (no. 39cr - '12).
