Funerary Scarab Wing

Faience wing from a funerary scarab with holes for sewing on to mummy bandages or bead netting placed over the mummy. Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession no. 180596; purchased by Mr Webb for Sir Henry Wellcome at Stevens's Auction Rooms Ltd. 28 November 1933 Lot 120 "fragment of a winged disc". CONDITION NOTE (1998): Chipped edges, pitted, discoloured, surface dirt.
