Furniture Part (Chair or Stool)

Chair or stool seat rail with a series of holes drilled along one edge. Through each of these holes would be passed two strings which would be woven to form the seat. Accurately sawn and finished. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Incomplete, splitting, dry, worn, remnants of decoration, surface dirt. Possibly purchased at Sotheby's, London, 19-21 December 1906 like other furniture parts in the Wellcome collection.
