Information

Christopher Moore was born in Dublin but attended the Royal Academy schools and established his practise in London. He became well-known for his portrait busts and exhibited numerous times at the Royal Academy and Royal Hibernian Academy. The sitter is possibly George Trenchard Goodenough, who was a tax official. Lever bought this bust from an antiques shop in Chester on the 24 July 1897, and it is one of his earliest purchases of realistic sculpture.
