The Gad's Hill Oak, Rochester

Lever acquired this painting as by Thomas Gainsborough. Although the work is obviously inspired by Gainsborough's landscapes, both stylistic considerations and the painting technique employed suggest that it is not by him. It has now been convincingly re-attributed to his nephew, Gainsborough Dupont.
