Globe-shaped lantern with stand

Globe-shaped lantern, one of a pair (to LL 6762); egg-shell porcelain, delicately painted in mixed famille rose and famille verte enamels. On the sides are two heart-shaped reserves with flowering plants and butterflies; and between them, a panel formed by four bats enclosing designs of flowering shrubs and birds. In the spaces are floral sprays and butterflies. On the shoulder, a band of ju-i (ruyi ''as-you-wish'') shaped lappets edged with green and painted with floral designs and butterflies in colours in a blue ground. Brocade borders of quatrefoil pattern interrupted by red flowers and medallions with insects. The lantern is fitted with a lacquered wooden collar with cloud-scroll edges and a black wood stand of lotus design.
