Gold disc awarded to Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark
Liverpool-born Martin Cooper, keyboard and saxophone player in the band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, received this gold disc for his work on OMD's 1985 album Crush. The disc was awarded to commemorate the sale of 50,000 units of the album. Cooper was a member of the band between 1981 and 1989, and again from 2007 onwards. OMD was co-founded by Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys in Liverpool in the late 1970s, rising out of the city's famous post-punk club Eric's on Mathew Street. The influential band continue to perform and have sold over 40 million records.
