M11169t

Information

Papyrus mounted on calico stuck to a card backing. Inscribed in Greek text in 1860 by Constantine Simonides; which he described as being from the Gospel of St. Matthew, 'Last Supper', written by Nicholas the Deacon, some fifteen years after the ascension of Jesus Christ. The papyrus is most likely ancient but the text is a modern forgery. Marked in pencil with the letter L. Dimensions include the backing.
