Grape Bunch Tile Inlay

Currently not on display

Blue glazed wall tile in the form of a bunch of grapes from the cornice of King Akhenaten's north palace. Broken and mended, with the upper half missing. It was found during 1924-5 excavations at Tell el-Amarna (find number 25/136) from area '25 centre', where ten inlay architectural elements in the form of bunches of grapes were found. Five pieces were given to the East Anglia Egyptian Society.
