Roughly rectangular sherd of thin walled ware with eight lines of Greek text in black ink. A tax receipt written in Greek from two tax collectors called Aibontios Niger and Pachnumi. Dated to 19 June AD 175 during the reign of Gaius Avidius Cassius, a Roman usurper who briefly ruled Egypt and Syria in AD 175. Within the archive is an undated letter between Mrs Tidswell and J. Herbert Walker of 55 Fitzroy Road, London. Herbert Walker provides an English translation of the text.
