Hamburg Painting No. 2

This painting is one of a series entitled “Hamburg”. Sutcliffe’s influences came from European rather than American artists, including the grid forms in Paolozzi’s work. The textured surface and subtle colour changes combine to create an atmospheric and energetic work. The artist’s mother gave this painting to the gallery.
