A tall picnic hamper strengthened and decorated with copper gilt braces, corners, handle plates and locks with punched designs that are pinned to the basket with copper pins. The base is made from a series of wooden strips, wrapped with dried grass stems dyed in purple, pink, yellow, blue and green that have now faded (but are still visble inside). The grasses are frayed at the back suggested that someone (a porter) carried the hamper several times.
