Handle

Information

Pair of solid cast bronze handles originally attached to the rim of a bronze vessel (note the groove, on inner sides, at joint of handle and attachment plate, to accommodate the vessel's rim.) Angular, rectangular handles are octagonal in section, with rows of pearl ornament on two of the outer edges. Attachment plates have rough, concave back surfaces, front carries shallow relief decoration, shaped like Lesbian leaf with short scrolls at top. Handles were originally soldered to a vase. Intact, surfaces corroded, pitted, with red crystals. The handles are from two different moulds.
