Handle

Large, heavy cast-bronze horizontal handle, up-turned and rounded on the corners, has thick hand-grip, smooth and round in section, and attachment in the form of two pendant palmette-escutcheons (designed as separate pieces but in this casting actually integral with each other). Slight volutes above the attachment plates; ornament on each plate in sharp relief: palmette of ten leaves with paired sideways volutes at both upper corners. Intact; corroded with fine green patina; traces of silver-colored solder are visible beneath the corrosion products on the back surface of the palmettes.
