At Hastings

'At Hastings' is probably a preliminary sketch for Prout's etching of the same name that was included in his series of 24 soft ground etchings, published by Rudolph Ackermann (1764 - 1834), in February 1816. This watercolour differs in detail from the etching and it is in reverse. This suggests it was made before the etching.
