Head from a votive statuette

16.5.72.93

Information

A small and round female head from a votive statuette. The woman has well defined eyes, a straight nose that is partially broken and thin lips. Most of the facial features have eroded and there is a stain on the left side of the face. The hair is arranged in shallow horizontal grooves running across the head, suggesting that it was wrapped up with a garment or in a fillet. The young woman is wearing small round earings on both her ears. The right temple has a hacking mark possibly from the excavation.
