The korobla masked dancer belongs to a male initiation association open to specific artisan groups only. It dances at burial ceremonies and serves to ensure the correct performance of the burial ritual. It can also appear at night to drive dangerous forces out of the village. The form of the mask is deliberately ambiguous and consists of a composite of different animal elements.
