Information

The heddle pulley is a crucial device that allows the alternate play of the two heddles through which the warp threads of the loom are threaded. A Baule weaver uses foot pedals to operate the heddles. With each stroke a heddle picks up or pulls down the set of warp threads threaded through it. This creates a shed, or space between sets of warp threads, through which the weaver horizontally passes the shuttle with the weft thread on it.
