Information

Founded in 1864, Hunslet Engine Company is a designer and producer of shunting, industrial, tunneling and specialised locomotives. Andrew Barclay Sons & Co was acquired by the Leeds-based Hunslet Group of companies in 1972, and in 1989 its name was changed to Hunslet Barclay Ltd. The locomotive interests of Hunslet-Barclay were bought by LH Group, Staffordshire on 31 December 2003, with Hunslet-Barclay at Kilmarnock continuing in the business of design, manufacture and refurbishment of multiple units, rolling stock, bogies and wheel-sets. After going into administration in 2007 the company was acquired by the locomotive builder Brush Traction of Loughborough through its parent, the FKI Group and renamed Brush-Barclay. Brush Traction was then acquired by Wabtec in 2011 and the Kilmarnock works became Wabtec Rail Scotland. The collection consists of one box containing mostly locomotive catalogues and quotations/specifications for locomotives produced for Mersey Docks and Harbour Board.
