Wooden stick used for hunting. Clubbed end and polished. Broken at one end. Collected by Rev. William Frankland Hood on one of his visits to Egypt between 1851 - 1861. Label stuck to surface says it was collected at Thebes. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Incomplete, splitting at club end with some loss, label adhered to surface, surface dirt. Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession no.30971 Purchased at Sotheby's, London, 11 November 1924 (Hood collection), Lot 146 "A wooden throw stick, 17 in. long, with a clubbed end, from a tomb at Thebes; part of a Bow; and a Fragment of an Arrow; XII Dynasty (3)" (1924 p. 21).
