Image 'Alexandra Lately Exchequered by The British Government at Liverpool' Illustrated London News, shows vessel Alexandra built by William C. Miller of Liverpool as a gift to the Confederacy from Fraser, Trenholm & Company. Under pressure from the United States Government the British Government exchequered the vessel during fitting out and the legal case delayed sailing until April 1864 when it was renamed Mary.
