Impecuniosity

Information

Terence Parkes (1927 - 2003), better known as 'Larry', was one of the most prolific and popular of British cartoonists. He produced a series of cartoons based on famous paintings at the Walker and Lady Lever Art Galleries. This cartoon is based on 'Fidelity' by Breton Rivière (LL 3123). The painting depicts a man in deep sadness, sitting on a chair comforted by his faithful dog. Here instead the dog causes the man despair (or impecuniosity), through the vet bill in the man's hand.
