Stopper with cap of amethyst colour. 

Ye Zhongsan (1875-1945) was active in Beijing and was known as a master inside-painter. The figures here are painted with a light touch, particularly in the shading of the garments. The detailed work shows both the mature craftsmanship in handling materials, and high quality in landscape painting and calligraphy.
