James Street and Strand Street

A young boy turns and looks directly at the camera as the Police photographer captures this scene of devastation on the Strand. In the centre of the picture an Air Raid Precaution (ARP) warden can be seen standing on top of a huge pile of smoldering rubble. Albion House (White Star Building), 30 James Street can be seen just behind the rising smoke. Debris litters the road as people walk stoically by.
