Early 18th dynasty jar painted narrow brown bands, from Esna tomb 71 E'05. Marked by the excavator with the grave number in black ink, " 71E". Later modified by a collector to 71Esna".
CONDITION NOTE 1998: Some concretions, abrasions to surface, chipped rim, surface dirt.
Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession no. 13475 (3 jars from Esna): "Light coloured vase, decorated with brown rings. 4" high 3/8 4" diameter. Place of lip missing"; Purchased at Sotheby's, London, 26 June - 6 July 1922 (MacGregor Collection) Lot 1718/18: "Eighteen others, including some very interesting forms; from Esna, Abydos and other sites".
