Jar

Jar, with overglaze polychrome decoration, is inscribed dayazhai ('hall of great elegance') juxtaposed with the seal mark tiandi yijiachun ('springtime in the entire universe'), which together refer to a group buildings of the Yuanming Yuan Palace designed for the Empress Dowager Cixi (1835-1908). On the base, yongqing-changchun mark ('eternal prosperity and enduring spring').
