Cylindrical jar with everted rim and flat base. Walls of vessel are 12 mm in thickness. Side marked neatly in black R.1. Auction label adhered to the surface "947/3". CONDITION NOTE 1998: Chipped, some surface cracks, abraided, surface dirt, discolouration, label adhered to surface. Wellcome Historical Medical Museum no. 15732/2 "Cylindrical vessel in alabaster of rough finish. 6¾" high 5½" diameter". Purchased at Sotheby's, London, 26 June - 6 July 1922 (William MacGregor collection) Lot 947/3: "A Vase, of ovoid shape, in banded alabaster, 4 1/4 in. high by 4 in. diam.; also a cylindrical Vessel, in alabaster, with flat bottom and slightly projecting rim, 4 1/4 in. high by 2 3/4 in. diam; another, of rough and heavy make, 7 in. high by 5 1/4 in. diam.".
