Pottery jar. Marked in ink "Buhen 1963-64 No 3". From Buhen, the former ancient Egyptian fortress outpost in Lower Nubia (Sudan) that in 1964 was entirely submerged beneath the reservoir waters behind the Aswan High Dam. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Running crack from rim with a small loose sherd from the rim, chipped and pitted, surface dirt.
