Pottery jar. Marked in ink "Buhen 1963-64 No 20". From Buhen, the former ancient Egyptian fortress outpost in Lower Nubia (Sudan) that in 1964 was entirely submerged beneath the reservoir waters behind the Aswan High Dam. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Previous repair to neck and rim with area of loss, chipped around break area, adhesive on surface, chipped and flaking surface, surface loss, large open crack in interior of vessel.
