Information

Ovoid-shaped jar with two pierced lug handles. The yellow with red streaks marble-like stone is probably veined indurated limestone although has previously been described as porphyry. Marked 13993 on the base. Compare shape with Ali el-Khouli, ‘Egyptian Stone Vessels, Predynastic Period to Dynasty III: Typology and Analysis’ (Mainz, 1978) nos. 1343-1384.
