Ovoid jar with round base. Handmade with smoothed surface. Marked B149 (or 6149?), possibly Egypt Exploration Fund 1908-09 excavations at Abydos when Edward Naville led excavations in the Umm el-Qa'ab area, as well as cemetery A and cemetery B.
CONDITION NOTE 1998: Pitted, concretions , surface dirt, white residue.
Either Early Dynastic Period or early Old Kingdom (Dynasties 1-3); compare with Anna Wodzinska, A Manual of Egyptian Pottery (Boston, MA, 2009) vol. 2 Archaic 9 (p. 83) and Old Kingdom 3 (p. 117).
