Cylindrical jar with flaring rim and base. Perfumed ointments and unguents were stored in jars like this. Base of jar has a label with the number 419 stuck on top of a round label with blue border.
CONDITION NOTE 1998: Large areas of surface loss, chipped, surface dirt, worn.
Purchased at Sotheby's, London, 18 July 1919 (Lawrence-Cesnola Collection) Lot 51: Predynastic Egyptian vase of globular form, with slight side loops in black and white granite, 4 in. high, 5 in. diam., and an Egyptian alabaster vase 4 1/2 in."
