Cylindrical jar with flaring rim and base. Carved from a hard limestone rather like marble. Perfumed ointments and unguents were stored in jars like this. Compare with Ali el-Khouli, ‘Egyptian Stone Vessels, Predynastic Period to Dynasty III: Typology and Analysis’ (Mainz, 1978) no.1038. CONDITION NOTE 1998: Chipped, pitted, surface dirt.
